Liaoning Dingjide Petrochemical has told MLT Analytics (MLTA) that it is in the "troubleshooting phase" of startup of its 200,000-tonnes/year polyolefin elastomer and plastomer (POE/POP) plant located in the Dalian Changxing Island National Petrochemical Industrial Park, Liaoning Province, China, with commercial operation slated for by the end of October 2025. Speaking to MLTA at the K Show in Dusseldorf, Germany, Head of Overseas Marketing Jason Sun noted that his company had licensed production technology from a party that he declined to identify.
The company is also planning a second phase on investment, with a similar scale POE/POP plant scheduled to start up in 2027. Dingjide's Sun, however, concedes that start-up of this plant may be delayed.
Dingjide's POE/POP product slate includes grades with densities ranging from 0.862 to 0.902 for applications including solar encapsulation film, footwear, impact modification, and wire & cable. The company also manufactures 1-hexene and 1-octene comonomers.
Dingjide is also a leading manufacturer of polypropylene (PP) catalysts and recently announced a toll manufacturing agreement with PP process licensor Lummus Technology to supply the latter's catalysts for its Novolen production technology.
MLTA's latest report, "Global Ziegler-Natta Polypropylene Catalyst Report (2024–2030)—2025 Edition: Supply strategies Amid China PP Market Ascendency," presents a detailed overview of the global PP catalyst market. According to this groundbreaking report, around 77% of the global PP catalyst market is estimated to be phthalate-based. MLTA's modeling approach is based on line-by-line analysis of PP production assets globally taking into account catalyst yields in commercial production environments, plant location, age of the line, grade portfolio of the PP supplier, as well as process and technology used by the line. This approach also leads to the ability to calculate reliable and accurate estimates of PP catalyst supplier market share.
